Shirley's Approach

Shirley utilizes Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), hypnotherapy, guided imagery, gene testing and medicine in a dynamic approach. She enjoys helping clients conquer insomnia without having to depend on sleeping pills. She pays close attention to nutrition, diet and sometimes recommends fasting as a tool to healing. Because she can prescribe medicine she has the ability to incorporate antidepressants and non-habit-forming anti-anxiety medication and sleep aids if needed. Shirley is known for her kind nature and compassionate approach to healing.

For clients who do not already have a therapist, she often offers counseling as well as other services. Treatment is offered through biological, psychological, social, spiritual, conscious and subconscious approaches in treatment, depending on the client’s needs and preferences. She focuses on education, sleep, mental health, physical activity, nutrition and lifestyle as a means to create balance with the ultimate goal of achieving mind, body, and spiritual contentment.

For clients who are already being seen by a therapist, she offers her services in a holistic approach to support existing therapy. She believes in collaborating with other treating professionals and welcome their questions and input to provide the best integrated care.

Shirley takes her own calls and is available for urgent matters on weekends, holidays and vacations. This is one of the things that makes Shirley a unique practitioner. If more time is needed in between sessions she is available for phone sessions.

She encourages clients to ask questions about medications and to give updates on recent events and issues in their lives. Her availability and accessibility reflect the type of unique, comprehensive and personalized continuity of care her clients enjoy.

Shirley’s methods are fast and effective, and often make a profound difference in the quality of life of her clients.
